Paul Howard - Lead Engineer

Paul Howard has spent well over 20 years in the motorsport industry. Paul was an avid racer for 5 years before stepping away from driving to focus his attention on son Jay’s driving career and development. Paul and Jay spent nearly 14 years traveling the world competing in karting, winning multiple championships along the way.

Along with being a driver coach and engineer for Jay, Paul was their primary engine builder as well as the primary engine builder for other British drivers under the Screaming Talent / H Power team banner, who have won multiple championships. It wasn’t long after Jay made the move to the states in 2005 to pursue an IndyCar career that Paul followed suit, bringing his engine building skills along with him. In 2006, Paul set up a shop in Indianapolis for the new home of the Screaming Talent kart racing team and H Power Engines.

After a short stint in Dallas, TX, Paul once again traveled with Jay to their new home in the shops at Palm Beach International Raceway. Early 2009 brought the appointment of Paul to the Vice President of Karting position at PBIR, where he would be working side-by-side with Jay, along with heading up the H Power engine shop.

Choosing to part ways with the facilities of PBIR, Paul and Jay wanted to refocus the engine operations to continually utilize advanced R&D from those building engines in England. In January of 2010, they formed an agreement with Steve Ogden of Ogden Motorsports in the UK to be the American builder of Ogden Racing Engines, thus re-branding the former H Power engines into the new Ogden USA engines.

Steve Ogden - Owner Ogden Motorsports UK

Steve Ogden has been involved in karting for over 30 years. Racing himself initially and then providing driver tuition and advice at both British and European Championship level.

In the early years Steve had to fit his karting in and around his full time job as a teacher. In 1990 with the amount of work increasing, Steve decided to move full time into the karting industry. With a degree in Engineering and 12 years experience of educating youngsters, kart racing tuition and engine rebuilding seemed a natural progression.

In the early days Steve’s interest centered on the 100cc classes, focusing on engine preparation, chassis supply and race support, this was also supplemented by general engineering work. Steve is passionate about engineering excellence and has always been extremely interested in the mechanical side of the sport. Over the years this has directed and streamlined the business into what it is today. A company that specializes in the preparation and fisching of race engines.
